If you are looking for an Omegle alternative, you are not alone. Omegle connected two strangers at random for text or video chat from 2009 until its founder, Leif K-Brooks, closed it on 8 November 2023. We make Titli, a video chat app for adults in India, so we have an interest here. We will still try to give you a fair picture, including the cases where Titli is not what you want.
Why people still search for Omegle
Omegle's appeal was simple. You opened a page, pressed a button and were talking to someone new within seconds, with no profile and nothing to download.
People still miss that quick, unplanned conversation. The question is whether you can have it without the problems that came with it.
What made Omegle risky
In his closing note on the site, K-Brooks wrote that running Omegle was no longer sustainable, "financially nor psychologically". He acknowledged that the service had been misused, in some cases for very serious crimes, and that fighting that misuse had become a constant battle.
A few design choices made the problem harder:
- No accounts. You did not sign in, so there was little to stop someone who was removed from simply coming back.
- Weak age checks. Anyone could open the page, including children, and that mixed children with adults.
- Limited moderation. Moderation existed, but with no accounts and huge volumes of random pairings, it was hard to act on bad behaviour in a lasting way.
You can read the longer story in our post on what happened to Omegle.
What to look for in an Omegle alternative
Before you install anything, check these points. They matter more than the look of the app.
- Accountability. Does the app tie each person to a real sign-in, such as a phone number? It makes bans stick.
- A clear age rule. Is the service for adults only, and does it say so in its terms?
- Report and block that work everywhere. You should be able to report from a call, a chat, a profile or a live stream.
- Visible moderation. Does the app tell you how calls and lives are reviewed, rather than leaving it vague?
- Written rules. Look for community guidelines that name what is banned.
- A real company and contact. You should be able to find who runs it and how to reach them.
How Titli differs from Omegle
Titli is a 1-on-1 video chat app for Android, built in Noida for people in India. Titli is only for adults aged 18 and over (see our Terms). Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are removed when reported.
You sign in. Titli uses a phone number with OTP or a Google account. Unlike Omegle, every conversation is tied to an account. You still choose what goes on your profile, and your phone number is not shown to the people you talk to.
Random chat still exists, with limits. The home tab is called Match. You tap to connect and are paired with an available member for a random video call. You can set interest filters, and you can end a call any time.
Reporting is built in. You can block or report anyone from their profile or chat. Report reasons include nudity, fake profile, harassment, spam and underage user.
Calls are moderated, and we tell you. During video calls, still snapshots may be captured and reviewed by moderation for safety. An on-screen indicator shows this, and you agree to it when you sign up. It is explained in our Privacy Policy. We think being open about it is better than pretending nothing is checked.
It is more than one button. Besides Match, Titli has live streams, audio rooms with mic seats, and private messages. The app works in nine languages: English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Urdu and Arabic.

Who should pick something else
- If you want text-only chat with no account, Titli is not that. You must sign in, and random matching here is video.
- If you are under 18, Titli is not for you. Our Terms do not allow it.
- If you only want free chat, know that calls on Titli use coins, billed per minute. Match tickets give a short free match call, but most calling costs coins.
- If you use an iPhone, there is no Titli app for iOS.
If none of those apply and you want a moderated place to talk on video with adults in India, Titli may suit you. For a wider comparison, see our guide to Omegle alternatives in India and the full comparison hub.
Moving on from Omegle habits
Some habits from Omegle are worth dropping. Do not share your phone number, address or social handles in the first call. Use the report button instead of arguing with someone who breaks the rules. If someone threatens or blackmails you, report them in the app and contact India's cybercrime helpline on 1930 or https://cybercrime.gov.in. Our safety page has more on how reporting and blocking work.
Frequently asked questions
Is Omegle coming back?
There has been no official relaunch. The founder closed the service on 8 November 2023 and left a farewell note on the homepage. Sites using the Omegle name today are not the original service, so treat them with care.
Can I use Titli without giving my name?
No. You must sign in with a phone number or a Google account, so every member has an account. You decide what to put on your profile, and your phone number is not shown to the people you talk to.
Does Titli have a text chat with strangers like Omegle?
No. Random matching on Titli is a 1-on-1 video call. You can send text, photos and voice notes in private messages to people you have connected with.
Why does Titli capture snapshots during calls?
They may be reviewed by moderation to help check for content that breaks our guidelines, such as nudity. An indicator on screen shows when this is active, and it is covered in the Privacy Policy you agree to at signup.
Is there a Hindi version of this page?
Yes. You can read the Omegle alternative guide in Hindi.
