Omegle shut down on 8 November 2023, after founder Leif K-Brooks posted a statement on the site saying it was no longer sustainable to run. Since then, people searching for the best Omegle alternatives in India have found a crowded field: random video chat sites, global matching apps, live streaming apps with paid calls, and friend-finding apps.
A quick disclosure before we start: we make Titli, one of the apps in this list. So rather than declaring a winner, we have tried to explain the different types of alternatives, describe each named app neutrally using facts that are publicly checkable, and give you a checklist so you can decide for yourself. If you want the backstory, read what happened to Omegle.
First, decide what you actually want
"Omegle alternative" means different things to different people. Before comparing apps, ask yourself which of these you are after:
- Pure randomness: tap a button, meet someone, skip, repeat.
- Conversation with more structure: profiles, interests, the option to talk to the same person again.
- Live entertainment: watching hosts, chatting in comments, joining as a guest.
- Friendship over time: finding people you will message and meet again.
Different apps are built for different points on that list. Being clear about your goal saves a lot of trial and error.
A checklist for judging any Omegle alternative
Use these criteria for every app you try, including ours:
- Age rules: Is there a clear 18+ policy and a way to report underage users?
- Account and accountability: Do people sign in with something, or can anyone appear and vanish? Sign-in is less convenient but tends to make bad behaviour easier to act on.
- Report and block: Can you report and block in one or two taps, during a call and after it?
- Moderation: Does the app say how it moderates video and what it does with reports? Read the privacy policy for specifics.
- Written rules: Are there community guidelines that ban harassment, nudity and scams?
- Costs: What is free, and what needs coins, diamonds or a subscription? Know before you start a paid call.
- Local fit: Is the app available in India, and does it support the languages you speak?
- Company details: Is there a real developer name, address and support email in the store listing?
No app scores perfectly on every point, and your priorities may differ from ours. That is fine; the list is there to make the trade-offs visible.
Type 1: Random video chat sites and apps
These are the closest thing to classic Omegle: you get paired with a stranger and can skip at any time.
Chatroulette
Chatroulette launched in November 2009, created by Andrey Ternovskiy, and it still operates a website. It is one of the original names in random video chat.
- Pros: simple, instant, works in a browser.
- Cons: like most open random-chat sites, what you see depends heavily on who else is online and how well rules are enforced.
More detail on our Chatroulette alternative page.
OmeTV
OmeTV is a random video chat service with a website and mobile apps. Its own listing describes swipe-to-skip matching and getting into a chat quickly.
- Pros: quick to start, familiar swipe format.
- Cons: a fast, low-commitment format means conversations are often brief; check its rules and moderation description yourself.
See our OmeTV alternative comparison.
Type 2: Global 1-on-1 video matching apps
Azar
Azar is a 1-on-1 video chat app from Hyperconnect, a Seoul-based company that Match Group acquired in 2021. Match Group has described Azar as connecting people across countries, with real-time translation.
- Pros: polished app, long track record, international reach.
- Cons: if you mainly want to talk with people in India in Indian languages, a global pool may not be what you need. Some features are paid.
Our Azar alternative page goes into the differences.
Type 3: Live streaming apps with paid calls
Chamet
Chamet is a live video chat app where hosts stream and users can start paid 1-on-1 video calls and send virtual gifts, using an in-app currency.
- Pros: lots happening at once: streams, calls and gifts.
- Cons: paid calls and gifting can add up quickly, so set yourself a budget.

Titli (made by us)
Titli is an Android app for adults 18+, built in Noida for India. It combines a random 1-on-1 video chat feature called Match with live streams, audio rooms and private messages. You sign in with a phone number or Google account, the app is available in 9 languages (including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati and Urdu), and calls use coins billed per minute. During video calls, still snapshots may be captured and reviewed by moderation for safety, with an on-screen indicator showing this.
- Pros: India-focused, several ways to connect in one app, report and block from profiles and chats, written community guidelines.
- Cons: available on Android only; you must sign in with a phone number or Google account; calls cost coins.
You can see how it stacks up against Omegle on our Omegle alternative page.
Type 4: Friend-finding apps
If what you really miss about Omegle is meeting new people, not the randomness, a friend-finding app may suit you better.
Bumble BFF
Bumble BFF is Bumble's standalone app for finding friends. In September 2025 Bumble relaunched it with a focus on friend groups and community. Availability and features can differ by country, so check the store in India.
- Pros: built around platonic friendship, profile-first matching.
- Cons: text-first and slower paced; not a substitute if you want instant video.
We compare it with Titli on our Bumble BFF alternative page.
A quick comparison
| Main format | Suits people who want | |

| Chamet | Live streams and paid calls | Live entertainment and gifting |
| Bumble BFF | Profile-based friend matching | Slower, text-first friendships |
| Titli | Random 1-on-1 calls, live streams, audio rooms, DMs | India-focused chat in Indian languages |
Features change often, so treat this as a starting point and confirm on each app's own listing.
Staying safe whichever app you choose
The old Omegle problems did not disappear with Omegle. Whatever you use:
- Never share your phone number, address or social handles with someone you have just met.
- Assume a video call can be recorded by the other person, and act accordingly.
- Skip, block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
- If someone threatens or blackmails you, do not pay. Report at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
Our safety guide has more on how reporting works on Titli.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an exact replacement for Omegle?
Not really. Omegle had its own mix of features and culture. Today's alternatives each copy part of it: random matching, global video chat, live streams or friend-finding. Pick based on which part you liked.
Are Omegle alternatives safe to use in India?
Safety depends on the app's rules and tools and on your own habits. Look for an 18+ policy, quick report and block, written guidelines and clear moderation. Keep personal details private, whatever app you use.
Why do some apps make you sign in?
Sign-in adds a little friction but makes it easier for an app to act on reports and keep banned users out. Apps without sign-in are quicker to start but give moderators less to work with.
Are these apps free?
Most are free to download. Many charge for some features, such as paid calls, gifts, filters or subscriptions. On Titli, calls use coins billed per minute. Always check costs before starting.
