Two phones showing the Titli app: a 1-on-1 video call and a live stream with chat messages

For millions of people, the most honest version of themselves speaks Hindi. Jokes land better, compliments feel less stiff, and "kya scene hai?" says more than any English opener. Yet many apps used for dating assume you will flirt, introduce yourself and write a bio in polished English. If you have been looking for a Hindi dating app, what you probably want is simple: to talk the way you actually talk.

Titli is a live video chat app made in India. It is listed in the Social category on Google Play, not Dating, but plenty of adults use it to meet new people and get to know someone face to face on video, often in Hindi or Hinglish. Titli is only for adults aged 18 and over (see our Terms).

Why language matters so much in dating

Dating is mostly conversation, and conversation is mostly comfort. When you are speaking a second language, part of your mind is busy with grammar. You sound more formal than you are, and the playful side of your personality gets lost.

In your own language you can:

  • Be funny. Wordplay, filmi references and the way your family says things all come through.
  • Be warm. "Aapse baat karke achha laga" carries a softness that a translated "nice talking to you" does not.
  • Be yourself. Hinglish, the natural mix of Hindi and English that so many people speak every day, is not a compromise. It is how a lot of India flirts, argues and makes plans.

How Titli works in Hindi

The whole app in Hindi

You can choose Hindi as your app language on the first screen. Menus, buttons and messages appear in Hindi, so everything from signing in to starting a call feels familiar. You can switch language later in settings.

Video calls in whatever mix you like

On a 1-on-1 video call there is no language setting at all: you just talk. Use pure Hindi, Hinglish, or switch to English when you are stuck on a word. Tap to connect in the Match tab and Match connects you with a member of the opposite gender at random for a 1-on-1 video call, billed per minute to the man. Interest filters nudge Match towards people who share your interests; picking something like old Hindi songs, Bollywood or cricket is a natural way to land on people who enjoy the same things. There is no language, age or location filter, so you may also meet people who prefer another language, which can be fun in its own way.

Messages that cross language lines

Private messages support text, photos, voice notes and gifts. Incoming chat messages can be auto-translated into your language. So if someone in Chennai writes to you in Tamil, you can read it in Hindi, and they can do the same with your Hindi replies. Translation applies to chat messages, not to calls or live chat.

Voice notes are worth a special mention for Hindi speakers. Typing Devanagari on a phone keyboard is slow for many people, and typing Hindi in Roman letters can look messy. A short voice note solves both, and lets your tone come through.

Not just Hindi: nine languages in all

India dates in many languages. Titli's app works in nine: English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Urdu and Arabic. That covers a lot of people, but not everyone. Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam and Odia are not app languages yet, though of course you can speak any language you like on a call. Our page on Indian languages on Titli explains more.

If Hindi and Urdu are both close to home for you, you will notice how easily conversations flow between the two on a call. And if you are curious about chatting in Hindi without any romantic angle, see our Hindi video chat page.

Hindi conversation starters that feel natural

A few openers that are friendly, light and easy to answer:

  • "Namaste! Aaj ka din kaisa raha?"
  • "Aapki profile mein travel dekha. Agli trip kahan ki plan hai?"
  • "Sach batao, chai ya coffee?"
  • "Koi gaana jo aajkal repeat pe chal raha hai?"
  • "Aapke sheher ka best street food kya hai? Main note kar raha hoon."

Notice that none of them comment on looks. Interest and humour go further than compliments with a stranger. Our blog post on dating in Hindi has more phrases, plus a few to avoid.

Respect, in every language

The rules do not change with the language. Titli's Community Guidelines ban explicit content, harassment, hate speech and asking for money, payment or meetings outside the app. Keep flirting light and mutual, and take a "nahi" as a full answer.

You are always in control: end any call instantly, mute your mic or turn off your camera, and block or report anyone from their profile or chat. Still snapshots may be captured during video calls and reviewed by moderation for safety, with an on-screen indicator. Your phone number is never shown to the people you talk to.

What it costs

Titli is free to download on Android. Video calls are billed per minute in coins to the man. Match tickets give a free match call for a limited number of seconds, and the daily bonus and simple in-app tasks give you some free coins. Coins can be bought in the app with UPI, cards or netbanking.

This page also has a Hindi version for people who prefer to read in Hindi: see Titli in Hindi.
