If you are searching for a Bumble alternative, you probably already know how swipe-based dating feels: lots of profiles, a match, and then a chat that may or may not go anywhere. Some people love that. Others want to see and hear someone before they invest in a long text thread. This page compares Bumble and Titli fairly, using public sources, and says plainly when Bumble is the better choice.
We make Titli, so we are not neutral. Titli is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bumble.
What Bumble is
Bumble was founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd and launched in December 2014; its company is based in Austin, Texas. It is owned by Bumble Inc., the same company that owns Badoo. Wolfe Herd returned as CEO in March 2025.
For years Bumble was known for one rule: in matches between a man and a woman, the woman sent the first message. That has changed. In 2024 Bumble added Opening Moves, profile prompts a match can answer, as reported by TechCrunch. Then, in August 2026, Bumble dropped the women-message-first rule: either person can now send the first message and the reply window grew from 24 to 72 hours. Opening Moves is being retired, as The Telegraph India and Dexerto reported.
Bumble's Google Play listing says you can use Video Chat to get to know your matches, and lists optional subscription packages, Bumble Boost and Bumble Premium, plus single paid features such as Bumble Spotlight. On Google Play the app is listed in the Dating category.
What Titli is
Titli is a live video chat app made in India by GenZ Philam Entertainment. On Google Play it is listed in the Social category, not Dating. It is built for meeting new people, and video dating, getting to know someone face to face on a call, is one way adults use it.
Titli is only for adults aged 18 and over (see our Terms).
The ways to connect are different from Bumble's:
- Match: tap to connect. Match connects you with a member of the opposite gender at random for a 1-on-1 video call. Interest filters are optional; there are no age or location filters, and Match calls are billed per minute to the man.
- Explore: browse Popular and New lists, filter by country, and call or message someone from their profile.
- Live streams and audio rooms: watch a host, chat with viewers, or hang out on mic seats without a camera.
- Private messages: text, photos, voice notes and gifts, and incoming messages can be auto-translated into your language.
There is no swiping and no mutual-match step. Video calls are billed per minute in coins, and Match tickets give a short free match call.

The real difference: when you first see each other
On Bumble, you usually decide from photos and a short bio, then text, and only then perhaps start a video chat. On Titli the order flips. You talk on video first, and the conversation decides whether you want to talk again. If it clicks, follow the person and keep chatting in messages. If not, end the call and move on, no awkward unmatching.
Neither order is better for everyone. Our guide to video dating vs swiping goes through the trade-offs.
Who should pick which
Pick Bumble if:
- You want to meet people near you in person, and you want a dating app built around that.
- You like browsing profiles and choosing carefully before any conversation.
- You use an iPhone. Titli has no iOS app.
- You want an app in the Dating category, where everyone is there for dating.
Pick Titli if:
- You would rather see and hear someone before swapping messages for days.
- You want to video date in Hindi or another Indian language: Titli works in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Urdu and Arabic.
- You enjoy group spaces too, like live streams and audio rooms.
- You want everything to stay inside one app. Our Community Guidelines do not allow asking for or offering money, payment or meetings outside the app.
Safety on Titli
Every account is tied to a phone number or Google sign-in, and your number is never shown to others. You can block or report anyone from their profile or chat. Still snapshots may be captured during video calls and reviewed by moderation, with an on-screen indicator. Read the safety page and our guide to safe online dating before your first call.
