Making friends as an adult is hard. Work, a move to a new city or a shifting friend group can leave you with fewer people to talk to than you would like. Bumble BFF and Titli both try to help. If you are weighing up a Bumble BFF alternative, the key question is simple: do you want friends to meet this weekend, or someone to talk to tonight? We make Titli, and we think each app wins in a different situation.
What Bumble BFF is in 2026
Bumble BFF began as a friend-finding mode inside the Bumble dating app. In 2023 Bumble launched a separate friendship app called Bumble For Friends, and in September 2025 it relaunched it as a standalone app called Bumble BFF. According to TechCrunch, the new version is built on Geneva, a community platform Bumble bought in 2024, and Geneva's members were moved over to BFF.
The relaunched app keeps one-on-one matching and private messages, and adds a Groups tab for chat rooms and planning hangouts, with an in-app calendar for events. At launch, Bumble said group discovery would follow in 2026, so check the app for what is available now. The emphasis is on real-world friendship: find people with shared interests, then meet up.
What Titli is built for
Titli is an Android app for adults in India, built for conversation and friendship online. It does not try to arrange meet-ups. Instead, it gives you several ways to talk right now:
- Match, the home tab. Tap to connect and you are paired with an available member for a 1-on-1 video call, with interest filters.
- Live streams. Hosts go live; viewers chat in real time, follow hosts and can ask to join as one of up to three on-screen guests.
- Audio rooms. Audio-only party rooms with mic seats, eight by default. Good if you would rather not be on camera.
- Private messages. Text, photos, voice notes and gifts with people you connect with.
A typical week on each
The easiest way to see the difference is to picture how you would use each one.
On Bumble BFF, you might set up a profile with your interests, match with a few people in your city, message back and forth, and plan a coffee or a walk. You might join a group for runners or book lovers and turn up to an event it organises. The value shows up offline.
On Titli, you might open the app after dinner, sit in an audio room where people are chatting about films, then try a few Match calls. Later you might drop into a host's scheduled live stream and say hello in the chat. The value is the conversation itself, from home, in a language you are comfortable with.

Who should pick which
Bumble BFF is the better fit if:
- You want friends you can actually meet: a gym buddy, a weekend group, someone to explore your new city with.
- You prefer to get to know people through messages before meeting.
- You like structured groups and events.
- You use an iPhone, since Titli has no iOS app.
Titli is the better fit if:
- You want conversation now, without planning a meet-up.
- You enjoy talking on video, or listening in a room without a camera.
- You would like to use an app in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali or another of its nine languages. Our Hindi video chat page explains more.
- You are in a place, or a phase of life, where meeting in person is not easy.
Some people will use both: Titli for evening conversations, BFF for weekend plans. That is a perfectly sensible mix.
Staying safe when friendships start online
Online friendships are real friendships, but take them at your own pace. On Titli, your phone number is not shown to the people you talk to, and you choose what to put on your profile. You can block or report anyone from their profile or chat. During video calls, still snapshots may be captured and reviewed by moderation for safety, with an on-screen indicator you agree to at signup.
If you do decide to meet someone you first spoke to online, on any app, meet in a public place and tell a friend where you are. Our guide on making friends online safely covers this in more detail, and our page on how to make new friends online has more ideas.
