What happn is

happn was founded in 2014 by Didier Rappaport, Fabien Cohen and Antony Cohen, and comes from France. In September 2025, Hello Group, the Beijing-based company behind Momo and Tantan, bought 100% of happn, according to Hello Group's annual filing.

The app's core feature is showing you profiles of people you have crossed paths with in real life. When you both like each other, you become a "Crush" and can chat. happn lists voice and video calls with a Crush as a happn Premium benefit; we could not confirm whether free users can also call, so we do not claim either way. The paid tier is happn Premium.

On the size of its audience, the company says it has more than 170 million registered users and that India is a strong market, as reported by Global Dating Insights. That is the company's own figure.

What Titli is

Titli is a live video chat app made in India by GenZ Philam Entertainment. It is in the Social category on Google Play, not Dating. People use it to meet new people and make friends, and video dating, getting to know someone face to face on a call, is one of the ways adults use it.

Titli is only for adults aged 18 and over (see our Terms).

Titli does not use your location to find people. Instead:

• Match: tap to connect. Match connects you with a member of the opposite gender at random for a 1-on-1 video call. Interest filters are optional; there are no age or location filters, and Match calls are billed per minute to the man.
• Explore shows Popular and New lists of people, with a country filter and search.
• Live streams and audio rooms let you meet people in a group setting.
• Private messages support text, photos, voice notes and gifts, with auto-translation of incoming messages.

Where you are versus who you talk to

happn's charm is serendipity tied to place. It works best if you move around a busy city and like the idea of meeting someone who shares your daily routes. Some people also find location-based discovery uncomfortable, because it reveals that you were near someone.

Titli takes place out of the picture. You might talk to someone in another state, or, if you change the Explore country filter, another country. Nothing in the app shows people how close you are.
